Promethea

I stand alone
Surrounded by space
Covered by the night
Blinded by the darkness
I stand
Imprisoned
Bound
Arms and limbs weak from struggle
Flesh and skin torn by the chains that lock me
Warm blood sizzles in the snow staining it deep red
Screams and cries echo into silence
Steam from my hot breath fades into the cold air
I stand
Helpless and exposed
A feast for the eagle
I stand
A toy, a pawn
Mocked by the gods
My torture, my torment unending
Their joy, their pleasure eternal

Dream of me...

Dark skies
White moon, waning slowly
Stars that wink and smile
Late nights
Sleepless, restless
Close your eyes
See me
Imagine me
Feel me
Holding you in my arms
Kissing you softly, gently
Rest quietly
Dream of me tonight...

Landscape

Silently you lie beside me
Sleeping softly
Your bare back exposed
A landscape for my hands and fingertips
Lightly and gently I explore
Tracing every line and every curve
Each touch fuels the ache of hunger
Each caress ignites the pain of thirst
I hunger and I thirst and I long for a feast
My hungry lips and thirsty mouth dine on your skin
Slowly savoring...

Seasons

Summer sleeps
Cold autumn winds stir golden leaves
Dark Gray clouds coast slowly overhead
Rain falls slowly and steadily
In the distance, high mountain peaks stand dusted with snow
I find warmth inside
Hypnotized by the dance of flames on candles
Feeling a rhythmic rise and fall as I rest my head on your breast
Breathing in the scent of your skin, sweet and intoxicating,
I drift to sleep

Awakening

Stirred by the breath of morning
Warmed by the kiss of the sun
I wake amid a tangle of sheets
The gentle weight of your arms around me
A mind clouded by a torrid night
Evening storms
White lightning casts shadows upon the walls
Two lovers locked
A passionate struggle
Hypnotizing, mesmerizing
Blinding
Deep thunder in the distance
Shaking the earth below
Weakening limbs
Melting hearts
Tears flow with rain
Blessed by the god Hypnos
Darkness descends
Sweetening dreams
Until Dawn rises

Dreams

The full moon casts a silver glow upon the world below. Stars wink and smile. The Earth, moist with dew, releases a sweet, musky scent. The wind blows gently and cold. Inside, I lie in your arms, amid a tangle of sheets. Skin pressed tightly to skin, somehow we becoming one. Limbs tired and weak from exertion, our heavy breaths fill the room. Drowsy and numbed by ecstasy, we drift to sleep. Miles apart, we are brought together by a dream...

Drowning

Evening storms
Blue lightning that blinds
Thunder that cracks, shatters, and shakes
Cold winds that silence the flames of the candles
We fall into bed and swim between wine colored sheets
With hungry kisses
Clothes are shed and lay scattered on the floor
Rain begins to fall hard upon the roof
Hands begin to wander and search
Kisses and lips linger and stray
Flesh and skin melts under hot tongues
Voices rise above the thunder
Ecstasy washes over us in waves
Seizing the senses
Numbing the limbs
Feeding our desires
Drowning in this Passion
Together we lie, weak in the wake of this flood

Divine Ecstasy

Drowsy and dizzy
As I swim in this cloud
My body and mind numb
The passing of night
Was it a dream?
I can still feel you
I can still taste your kiss
As it lingers upon my lips
The sweetest nectar
My ambrosia
Food of the gods
Nourishing this human flesh
Divine ecstasy
Sublime, euphoric
The realization of a long desire
The fulfillment of a dream

Colorado Storms

Spring thunder
Long, low, rolling
Breaks the silence of the evening
Shaking the Earth below
Sunset and gray skies
Clouds rising over the mountains
Flatirons rest in shadows
We stand together
Bare feet in the green grass
Feeling the wind
Rain begins to fall
Gentle and cool
And we dance
And we kiss
Showers wash over us
Tangling hair
Streaming down cheeks
Sweetening lips
The rumble of thunder
Long and low
Eyes open
Mysteries unveiled

Vivamus, mea Lesbia, atque amemus

Vivamus, mea Lesbia, atque amemus
rumoresque senum severiorum
omnes unius aestimemus assis!
Soles occidere et redire possunt;
nobis cum semel occidit brevis lux,
nox est perpetua una dormienda.
Da mi basia mille, deinde centum;
dein mille altera, dein secunda centum;
deinde usque altera mille, deinde centum.
Dein, cum milia multa fecerimus,
conturbabimus illa, ne sciamus,
aut ne quis malus invidere possit,
cum tantum sciat esse bassiorum.

The Voice and the Muse

I see a pattern growing. As with the multiple email accounts I have, I'm starting to collect a number of blogs. I've been told that I have an obsessive and addictive personality so maybe the collection of email accounts and blogs is just a part of that. This little blog will be dedicated to my poetry. Some will be old, some will be new. As I look back on some of my old poetry, it's always amazing to me to remember what was going on in my life at the time and to see the person I was then. In some ways I've grown. In other ways, I'm still the same.
Now that I think of it, I will probably also post some of the things that have influenced and inspired me over the years. Even a Muse has Muses of her own.
